What our prices are, and how your number is worked out

Typical prices by lot size in Fort Collins, and how a quote is set: the grass or the roofline we measure at your address, a published rate, a minimum and named conditions.

Updated October 4, 2026

We measure the mowable grass, not the lot size. No account, no email.

Every price on this site comes from our published price book, the same one your quote is worked out from. The address gets you the figure for your own property before we ask for a name or a number.

Typical prices

Holiday lighting, snow removal and the rest of the price list are on the quote page, each with its rate and its minimum.

How a lawn price is worked out

  1. You give us the address. Nothing else yet.
  2. We measure the grass, not the lot. The house, the drive, the patio and the rock beds come out. A corner lot with a wide xeriscaped strip can hold less grass than a smaller lot with lawn to the fence.
  3. We apply the published rate. Mowing is up to 5,000 square feet of grass, then a little more for each 2,500 past it. A fertilizer round is 1.3 times the weekly mow of the same lawn, and aeration is priced by the acre.
  4. We adjust for how often we come, and for any named condition on the property.
  5. You see the number and every reason for it. Then you decide whether to give us your details.

What can move a lawn price

ConditionWhy
Many obstaclesTrees, beds and play sets: the trimming takes the time, not the open lawn
Steep slopeA hillside lot is slower to mow and harder on the machine
Overgrown first cutPriced once, before we start; then your normal rate
Narrow gateWalk-behind only, so the same lawn takes longer
Off our routesA street we do not already run is a trip for one stop
Dog on siteNo charge. We need to know, that is all
Septic field or no-mow zoneNo charge. It changes where we mow

Every other week costs 25% more a visit than weekly, because each cut takes two weeks of growth. A single cut is 50% more, because the crew drives out for one stop.

How the lights and the snow are priced

Holiday lighting is priced by the foot of roofline. Your roof has been measured from the air, every edge with its length and its pitch, so the lighting quote shows your house and you choose which edges to light. Eaves and gutters are one rate; a gable edge costs more the steeper it climbs. We check the footage before the quote goes out.

Snow removal is priced per visit, from the rate for a single-car drive and its walks, with ice melt as its own application. Give the address on the winter quote and we call with the price for your drive.

Your price does not change without your yes

Our rates live in a price book that is versioned and never edited in place. Every quote and invoice records the version that produced it, so a quote from March can be explained line by line in July. If the job changes, we quote it again and you approve the new number first.

Questions

Why publish prices at all?

Because the usual alternative is giving your number to four companies to learn a price, and the quote given over the phone without anyone looking is the one most likely to change. We would rather be held to a number on the page.

How long is a quote good for?

Seven days from the day you get it.

Does a person check the price?

When the lot needs it: a large or unusual property, or a measurement we are not sure of. The quote says so when it does, and nothing is booked until somebody has looked.

Why is my price different from my neighbour's?

Because the lawns are different. Two houses on one street can have very different amounts of grass once the house, the drive and the beds come out.

A tan brick ranch house with a white two-car garage, a concrete walk and a rock-and-shrub bed, fronted by a green lawn with mowing stripes under a deep blue sky with cumulus clouds.
