Core aeration in Fort Collins
Plugs of soil pulled across the lawn so water and feed get through the clay, in the spring window or the fall one.
Dewy turf close-up
Core aeration pulls plugs of soil out of the lawn, so water, air and fertilizer reach the roots instead of running off packed clay. We aerate in two windows a year, and you choose one or both.
What a visit includes
Every aeration
- Plugs pulled across the whole lawn, two passes where the soil is hardest
- Sprinkler heads flagged before we start, so the machine goes round them
- The plugs left on the lawn, where they put soil back over the roots
Not included
- Seed or overseeding
- Dethatching or power raking
When we do it
- The spring window
- Apr–May
- The fall window
- Sep–Oct
Water the lawn the day before, or after a good rain, and the cores come out deep. Dry clay barely lets the tines in.
What it costs
Priced at $260 an acre of the grass we measure, with a minimum, which is what most lots pay.
Questions
How much does aeration cost in Fort Collins?
The minimum covers a typical lot, and a big lawn costs more; type the address for yours.
Spring or fall?
Either works here. Fall is the better one if you can choose, because the lawn has a cool month to recover before winter.
How long until the plugs are gone?
A week or two of mowing and watering breaks them up. Leave them where they fall rather than raking them off.
